Dominique CHAPUIS
Dominique Chapuis is a French artist born in 1952. She lives and works between Frankfurt am Main and Berlin.
"Dominique Chapuis’s work reflects the variety of creative possibilities in the use of bands. (…) The artist uses transparent paper, Japanese paper, wax, acrylic, pencils, pastels, wood, and canvases. Depending on their specific qualities, these different materials allow for glazes, solid color surfaces, wooden constructions, and reliefs.
Dominique Chapuis’ artistic concept is based on the presence of primary elements that constitute structure and form. What is fascinating is the simplicity, which can simultaneously be the source of difficulty in terms of organization and perception. It is the rejection of any randomness and the assertion of the painting as a witness to what it is. Her paintings are what they are, nothing more."
